Introduction to ENC and ENC
Production (2 weeks)
Description of
Training:
This two-week, non–system-specific course is an introduction to Electronic
Navigational Charts (ENCs) and the production of Electronic Navigational Charts
in accordance with S-57—the standard prepared by the IHO Committee on
Hydrographic Requirements for Information Systems (CHRIS) for the coding and
exchange of hydrographic digital data, including that intended for Electronic Chart
Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) purposes.
Prerequisites:
▪ Good general English, with reasonable technical English.
▪ Candidates must be
employed by the hydrographic office or similar organization within their country.
▪ A background in cartography or
hydrographic surveying or other relevant experience is desireable.
Application Process:
Nominations should be made through the British Naval Attaché or Defence Adviser at the Bristish Embassy in the applicant’s country. Contact the International Training Manager listed above for more information.
