Hydrographic Data Processing and Marine Cartography
Module: Electronic Navigational Chart
(5 weeks)

Description of Training:
This five-week course is an introduction to Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) and the production of Electronic Navigational Charts in accordance with S-57—the standard prepared by the IHO Committee on Hydrographic Requirements for Information Systems (CHRIS) for the coding and exchange of hydrographic digital data, including that intended for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) purposes. The course is designed to be as generic as possible, using Hydroservice dKart Software.

Prerequisites:

            ▪ Good general English, with reasonable technical English.

            ▪ Candidates must be employed by the hydrographic office or similar organization within their country.

            ▪ A background in cartography or hydrographic surveying or other relevant experience is desireable.
