Training Opportunity Available:

International Hydrographic Science Applications Program (IHSAP), Category A Certified Program

Description of Training:
This is a year-long, non-thesis Master’s degree program offered at the Stennis Space Center in Mississppi. The program is the result of a partnership between NAVOCEANO and the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), and has received Category "A" certification by the International Federation of Surveyors/International Hydrographic Organization Advisory Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors. Students entering the program must hold a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent degree and be proficient in mathematics, physics, and computer science. Upon successful completion of the curriculum, students receive a Master of Science in Hydrographic Science from USM and a certificate for having completed a certified Category "A" academic program in hydrography.

Prerequisites:

▪ 70% English proficiency (training in Spanish may be provided, for additional cost).

▪ Basic Trigonometry, Calculus, and Physics.

▪ Basic knowledge of Marine Sciences preferred, but not required.

 

Application Process:

Requests for this training program should be sent to the Security Assistance Officer at the U.S. Embassy in the host nation. This Category A program does not have an MASL or ID #. For further assistance, contact Mr. Stanley Harvey, Deputy Director of FST Command.

 

Financial Assistance:

Requests for funding for this program could be addressed through the Security Assistance Officer at the US Embassy in the host nation, using one of the following options: International Military Education and Training (IMET) and expanded IMET funds; or possibly through Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Foreign Military Financing (FMF), and/or Direct Commercial Sales (DCS).
