PRODUCTION OF ELECTRONIC CHART DATA

IN THE CARIBBEAN SEA AND GULF OF MEXICO

By IHB e-mail of 16 February 2001, IHO Member States (or pending) of the CGMHC area were requested to provide the IHB with information on the current status of electronic chart data production by their HO in the CGMHC area, in view of the Miami CGMHC Electronic Chart Group meeting (3-5 April 2001), and the setting up of a testbed programme for a SHARED-like project in the region. Written responses have been received from Mexico and Colombia. Information on ENC production for USA and Cuba has been taken (or derived) from their reports to the latest CHRIS Meeting. Finally, France verbally informed the Bureau that they have not yet produce any ENC data in the Caribbean. It has been assumed that this was also the case for Netherlands , UK and Venezuela. Estimates are summarized in the table below.
